For the owners of Mahindra Scorpio and those who are planning to buy one, the below pictures give an idea of service schedule and the approximate costs incurred in each service. These pictures are taken at an authorized service centre. Click on the pictures to open them in full resolution. The pics are taken with a cell phone and so you will have to spend some time to understand some points, but having a look at all the pics will give you the complete idea. Note that the indications are only for 2.6 turbo(non-crde) and 2.6 turbo crde versions only. The schedule for mHawk is not in these pictures. The pictures are more than an year, so expect a slight increase in the prices mentioned in these pictures. Both CRDE and Non-CRDE should be taken for service every 5000 kms, but the oil change interval for CRDE is considerably increased to 15000kms. This makes the CRDe much cheaper in maintanance. Scorpio CRDe was introduced to the market towards the end of 2005.
UPDATE : Picture of the new service charges added. This lists the charges for all variants of Scorpio and Xylo. These rates are as on Jan 2012. The services are now called “Minor Service” and “Major Service”. The board in the image shows the base service charge as recommonded by M&M and does not detail what is actually done in the service(like how it was listed in the old boards, refer to old pics). Everything is now charged extra on and above this mentioned cost, including washing. From the older images you can see that the final cost included labour costs for oil topups/changes, wheel alignment, washing etc. All such things are now charged extra.
For both Scorpio and Xylo, I’m assuming the first three services(at 5k, 10k and 15k) are free. So the service costs start from the 20k service.
Service interval for Scorpio is every 5000 km. The service at 25k, 35k, 45k… is called “Minor Service” costing Rs.600/- while the service at 20k, 30k, 40k… is called “Major Service” costing Rs.3000/-.
Service interval for Xylo is every 10000 km starting from 20000 km(initial services at 5k, 10k, 15k and 20k). The “Minor Service” at 30k, 50k, 70k… costs Rs.900/- and “Major Service” at 20k, 40k, 60k… costs Rs.2500/-.
So, after the initial 20000 km, the service cost for every 20000 km is Rs.6600/- for Scorpio(two minor and two major) and Rs.3400/- for Xylo(one minor and one major). You can see that the Scorpio costs twice as much as a Xylo in terms of service costs. My personal opinion is that Scorpio is much older, proven, robust and very reliable. I do not see an agreeable reason why Scorpio needs a service every 5000km while the Xylo needs it every 10000km. Remember that the Oil change interval for Scorpio is 15000 km.
